That's not strictly true. Oreiads can be good thugs, and wind riders are good raiders that you could (though I wouldn't) use a bless with. And I personally love big communions, so that never get's boring for me. Hmm, why didn't I chose Acro...

Though I do agree that mage-wise, they can't do too much outside of communions (Oreiads can drop wind and nature buffs and evocations, at least). But diverse path picks on the mystics mean that at least you have options in the communions.
