Looked at the map, very nice!
About my only suggestions would be to make the compounds a bit smaller, with only one or two empty spaces in their center. Yeah you'll have problems making them square probably, but most times they're really not all that large. Maybe add some dirt roads between or leading from one compound to the other and some rough/rocky ground here and there.
