Default Re: Inter Galactic Couch Potato Football League Update!

AP - Zanzibar Stadium

It's not official yet until tommorow. But barring an unexpected scoring correction of some kind the Zanzibarbarians were victorious in a stunning come from behind win and clinched the Last open I.G.C.P.F.L. playoff spot.

The Trailblazers jumped out to an early lead on the strentgh of a big preformance from their star running back Priest Holmes (132yds, 2 TD), but a sub par day from Kansas QB Rich Gannon (328 yds, 0 TDs) kept it from being a complete blowout.

Stellar perfomances put in by the Zanzibarbarian defnsive unit (Saints, 4 turnovers and 2 blocked punts) and Zanzibar running back Duece Mcallister (127 Yds, 3TD) in the afternoon games brought the game within reach. Things still looked bad through three quarters of Sunday nights game with the Zanzibars still down by several points and QB Brett Favre struggling to find a rythm. Favre pulled it off though and a stunning fourth quarter drive capped off by a 40 yard touchdown pass made the difference. The 8 point play put the Zanzibarbarians ahead for the first time in the game. The final score was 103 to 99.

In such a close game of course every point counts. The Zanzibars were helped greatly by Running Back Maurice Shipp and Wide Receiver Tai Streets who were both picked off waivers late in the season, Streets just this week, to fill the holes created by the rash of injuries that has befallen the Zanzibars lately.

These injuries have been the greatest factor contributing to the teams four game losing streak that was snapped Last night. The team hopes to get Marshall Faulk back and healthy for the playoffs next week.
