How do you use this? I downloaded a map but when I try to load in the map editor it crashes the game. Here is the file I downloaded

It loads perfectly normal for me.
When these maps are produced by Vehola all the information the game needs to build the surface contours are there but the map maker need to manually reveal them with a terrain that follows hill contours and does NOT clear them down to based level 0........ and if anyone doesn't understand that they need to spend some time poking around the existing editor first. There are some things we just " assume" and the main one for this is that you understand how terrain is placed using either the game or the custom map editor so if you don't know what " doing a fill to generate the map contours" means don't even bother trying to use Vehola until you do and 5 minutes experimenting with terrain in the editor should be enough to get the basic understanding of it.
After DL a Vehola map it will appear to be dead flat
but it's not....it really looks like this----

but the player has to do that manually as the map has the contour information but NOT the terrain tile info..that is what YOU need to put in.
Click on the blue arrow at the bottom right of the editing screen.....that brings you to page 2..the same page " grey rough" is on.... at the top left is the basic terrain for the season you have selected but it will follow the contours on the map ( the one on the first page clears it down... DO NOT USE THE ONE ON PAGE 1)
Once you have clicked on that top left second page button go back to the first page and click on the "fill range" button and it will ask what new fill range you want....enter 250 as that will cover the entire map.
Then enter zero when the next message appears as we do not want a partial fill....now press ENTER ( but you're not done yet..) now press the FILL button then RIGHT CLICK anywhere on the map
and all the contours will appear
then the real work begins adding the details
PLEASE BE AWARE......if you have an older computer with low memory and one of these maps have a great deal of complexity you MAY stall your computer.....you are asking it fill in terrain information for
32,000 hexes......thats a lot of work so if you want to experiment with this try for simpler maps at first NOT the Himalayas or the Grand Canyon !
The map is attached as 483 with the contours revealed using earth and beach sand.....if anyone wants to try this using earth is a good way to start as it's on the first page with the flood fill and Fill buttons and does the trick quite nicely
That is quite the map BTW..........what are it's Long / Lat numbers ?
