IINM I have seen the AI (and for me when I am watching the AI's turn) use 'C' (cover) for both sides, it's subtle but I know when I have been firing on the AI's units at times they will "disappear" for a turn (they were in foxholes or defending). After a few times getting whacked the 'c' key will be handy for your grunts...just like the 'z' key...
