When you use a desert map the "A(dobe)" buildings are placed when you use the "concreate/ stone" building button so there is no special button for it just the map type AND at least one of the opponents needs to be a " desert " country.( generally ) sometimes it needs to be both......... experiment ) If you pick Norway vers Sweden and generate a Desert map you will not get the flat roofed buildings.

So........ place the buildings using "desert" nations on a Desert map and you will get the flat-roofed single hex buildings
