Ahhhh.. geo's answer explains it I think...

The Attack command DID NOT work - but I bet the transports were set to Don't get hurt... I'll remedy that the next turn...

Wiped out 4Billion souls for nothing, sheesh... They coulda joined the empire for the greater good...
