Ed, I never said or implied that this form of digital signature was fool-proof, or counterfit proof, just that there were ways of imbedding a digital signature into bitmaps. (heck once the pic is converted into a 'loss-compression' format like .jpg there is a good chance that the signature would be fried.)
Just because something can be copied or tampered with doesn't make the original less valid. I could errase the name of 'Boris' from all of his paintings, but that wouldn't change the fact that the painting was done by Boris.
