There shouldn't be any Doppler shift from a black hole.
It's buddy star would shift, but that would change from red to blue and back to red as it orbits around the hole. I guess we might be able to figure what we would expect the shift to be from its orbit and calculate the speed based on the difference in actual and predicted figures. [/handwaving]
