I've figured out what's happening. When the AI played a turn for me, it designed some ships. As it turns out, some of those designs are illegal under Proportions, but the AI managed to save them anyway. But now, obsoleting them won't make them go away, and I can't edit them and save them under the same name either, so it looks as if I'm stuck with them.
This is why you should get into the habit of turning off the AI on the first turn (in Empire Status > Ministers).  |
