Those last few points...

Shouldn't there be a way to spend those leftover points from the Pretender Creation screen? Maybe to buy extra starting gold or magic items? Maybe an extra magic site in your starting region? Any ideas?

I'm not very knowledgable about the modding bit of this game, so I'm not sure if it's possible to implement something like this : /

Yes, I completely agree.

Its been discussed before but the devs may not have noticed or it may be too troublesome to implement.

It would be great just to have something useful to spend 1 design point on. It drives us min/maximers crazy!

There actually already is a mod for this. It lets you spend you spend those left over points on psychiatric treatment for your OCD ;P

I think the issue is that when you want to try a certain combination of spells, scales etc and you end up with a 21-point excess then you just KNOW someone else used those extra points for that extra level of death magic that will be the death of you in the end ^^

Plus, it's already a hardcore game, so more customizations won't hurt : )

Easiest way the devs could allow spending those leftover points is allowing each extra point to be worth 2_gold. It's unlikely anything will change in the current game... good suggestion for DOM_4.

Not sure if there will be a DOM_4... but the game could definitely evolve in many ways to make it worthwhile.
(better graphics, more structures, more interesting magic sites, more modding, more map commands, scriptable AI, improving random map generator, etc.)

Stars! lets you choose what to spend your leftovers on (mines, factories, minerals, etc.) The same could be done for Dominions with a selectable field. Choose gold, gems, starting income or resources, etc. Definitely a good idea.

Stars! brings back fond memories. I imagine it would be as/more successful than Galciv2 if it only received a serious revamp in graphics and interface.

In any case, I concur with the others here, while clearly not high priority, it would be nice to have a couple options, and any efforts in this regard would be appreciated.
