Default Creating stacked warp points

Last night I was creating/destroying warp points to make my empire a bit more efficient, and the computer created the "other end" of one of them stacked on top of an existing warp point. I haven't messed with it yet, but I would submit that this is a problem. I don't yet know how it runs; haven't sent any ships through or anything.

I believe it handles 'em just fine. In a no-warp game, I deliberately stacked warp points, and a 'Warp' command would bring up a dialog with a list of warp points to choose from.

It is a feature of the game - you can also create warp pts in orbit around planets, in asteroid fields and around stars.

I dont recommend stacking warp pts - strategically it makes it rather easy for an invader to go anywhere in your empire without too much ship movement being expended.

It only helps the invader if they bring enough sweepers. When you can focus all your mines on fewer sectors...

Warp point w/ a planet or star? I wonder if a warp point remains at (6,6) if a star has been collapsed into a black hole.

...How about terminating several around unoccupied star systems as your main nexus pts into your empire. then build black hole generators at each star ... Good idea.. a nasty trap.... I will have to test it out.

I dont mine my warp pts too often - I find that kind of static defense ineffective and too difficult to maintain them when at war.

Instead I put them in orbit - then I dont pay for maintenance of the mine layer ships.
Also there is no delay in putting up the defense. Even if it is just to Force the opponent to spend economic pts building and maintaining the sweeper ships during planetary assaults.

Speaking of warppoints, I had a system on one of my borders (the only entry point for a long ways) that had both warp points the damaging type, and a blackhole in the middle. I figured that I wouldnt be getting any visitors from that direction.

The two will hover, spinning inches above the ground. With a giant buttered cat array, a high-speed monorail could easily link New York with Chicago.

I just tried putting a warp point on a black hole. First, I generated a warp point on a star, then I collapsed the star to a black hole. The warp point stays in 6, 6 and works normally.

The only difficulty I can see is if you exit the warp point and don't have enough movement remaining to get two spaces away from the warp point. If you don't, the black hole will suck your ship in and destroy it.

Hope this helps.

In my latest game my homesystem was a cul-de-sac and the first system outbound was a black hole with the warp point from my system very close to the middle. Lost quite a few ships in that damn black hole.
