A few Proportions colonization tips
Since this was brought up in another recent thread, here are a few more tips for Proportions 3.x:
At first, the fastest place to produce minerals and research is your homeworld, due to the cultural center there. Orgs and rads can also be produced there if needed, but they can also be quickly and efficiently produced by remote mining and for orgs, on colonies with Settlements or Communities. Eventually though, everything can be produced in good quantities on developed colonies (colonies with 10 million or more population, a city or resource/research/intel multiplier, and a bunch of production facilities and/or complexes) - but that takes a considerable time and investment to build up.
For a farming planet (one with at least five slots and a decent organics rating), I would build a two-to-four org farms, then a settlement, and then upgrade the settlement to a community.
For a breathable-atmosphere planet behind the front lines, I often try to start by building a space yard in order to increase the construction rate, even though that can take a while itself - it helps to transport several million people there as quickly as possible to speed construction, rather than waiting for them to reproduce... not much gets built with a low population.
Another option is to let everyone else colonize while you develop a fleet and then take their planets from them, as I've been having fun demonstrating in PvK's Proportions Game #2 on PBW. ;-> (Muahaha...)
