Those look like they are just glare effects. The partially obscured star is pretty typical of David's stars... look at the various alternate SE4 intro screens he made.  Go to the following page. They are the Last 3 images there (on the bottom right).

David should throw some real RW/SW building stuff into the next one. 
Ugh... coppermine image gallery really doesn't want me linking to a specific image with 100% accuracy, within the actual framework (not just the image itself, but a page that displays the image...).  |
