Hey folks. I personally always loved the game stories thread someone started some time ago--whether it was just a fact by fact account of their empire or a fictionalization. Good reading when bored at work, and for some reason they always made me want to fake a sickness, run home and fire up a game of SE4. Haha!

So I am starting a new one, for the newbies who want to contribute, for the old hands who feel like dusting off their writing skills and for myself. I've been in the PBW tourney for going on 9 months I think and i am just about to lose out. So I am getting back into single player. This won't be from Gold...as I haven't ordered it, but will be on 1.49 with an extended TDM-modpack.

Layout:
Slightly oversized galaxy (max at 120 or 130), 15 races, low tech....no victory conditions. One starting homeworld I, fellow warriors, shall play the Klingons. Kha-plah!!!! (ms?)

Let me bring you out of the past, the office chair in which you sit, and into the present, where our Klingon fleets roam the galaxy in search of galliant ways to die in battle (always seemed like the be all end all for Klingons to me...don't know about you).

The first Klingon colony ship left Kronos some four and a half years ago, and now look at us, occupying 10 systems and 15 planets. Not long after we left our own system we encountered the Jraenar, a race of warriors not unlike our own. By this time the Klingon home system [KHS] had grown too small as you my friend can well imagine. To the immediate galactic east (bare with me on this) of the KHS we'd established a fledgling military colony. And before I begin raving about the weakness of our former Counsel, I will admit, that their egalitarianism and good will towards all, for the time it was used, was a great help in preparing the Klingon race for space. It solidified us. No longer does one Klingon seek honor in the death of his brother. The insignificant Jraenar have given us more than enough blood to spill, even if it is far below our skills as warriors.

Anyway, where the hell was I. Ah, yes, a lone Jraenar destroyer was picked up on our sensors approaching the military colony. We'd seen them before, mind you, but only on long range sensors. We'd never been close enough to visually view them. The weak members of the High Counsel, namely that bastard Gol'par, were pressing for friendly relations with them, in the name of all we could gain by sharing knowledge and what not. Bah! Look where it got those colonists! Many in the High Counsel were pressing for better defenses and better ships, but the Weak Ones, the ones who lacked forsight, the politicians whose Klingon warrior instincts had waned from comfortable beds and fleshy-thighed whores, had enough power to slow our weapons development programs to a crawl. Instead they proposed more colony ships, better mining technology and faster engines (thank the gods for somethings at least) in order to explore the galaxy more rapidly. The Jreanar ship closed in, ignored all our hails, halted at about 5000 kelekoms (I think that is the right word although misspelled), and fired every capital ship missle it had. In a blaze of fire and decompression, 4 million Klingons died. We had not a single weapons platform, satellite, or ship with which we could avenge ourselves.

Needless to say, Gol'par and his host of soft skinned politicians, found themselves completely out of the loop. Several actually, found themselves in their own blood. The whores left and I assume their beds now have lumps...or so by the gods I hope.

Funds flooded everyone's pockets who had anything to do with war! A glorious day! It had been a century or more since the people had felt at one with their leaders. Even the local knife makers' pockets over flowed...and we asked, why does a Klingon need a knife in space? And the answer was, why the hell not. If we fire our meson bLasters till they empty, then we'll suit up and carve up the enemy ships by hand. Blood was going to flow....

Within a few months, we'd assembled a forward fleet of three destroyers. Beautiful they were. Emerald gods. The Klingon empires finest were assigned to these three. More were on their way. One sole ship was standing guard over the warp point leading into the Jraenar realm. As the three moved out of dock and left for the rebuilt colony, a sole Jraenar destroyer, the very same that killed 4 million Klingons and began this blood letting, jumped into Klingon territory right beside our vessel. Have you ever traveled through a warp point? No? Well, you see, they slow time somewhat. No one really knows why...no one that doesn't have a PhD, that is, but it doesn't make for good combat if your enemy stands ready on the other side.

The Jraenar ship floated out of the warp point's mouth and before they could scream, Kol, the captain of the sole Klingon ship, open fired, scoring 5 directs hits with its Meson BLasters. The bLasts damaged mainly their point of defense cannons, their life support and one engine. The Jraenar ship limped into a half turn and fired two capital ship missles. As they approached, our point of defense weapons took out one missle right before the other slammed into the aft of Kol's destroyer disabling its rear meson bLasters. Kol returned fire twice leaving the ship more or less a lifeless hull. I've talked to several of the warriors that stood near the forward windows that day, and many saw bodies of the Jraenar floating about, some slamming into the hull of their ship as they were being slowly sucked into the gravity well of the warp point. Several more bLasts and the ship tore into shreads. A story of many. Kol's a hero and was in line to head the war committee.

Kol's ship left it's position for repairs the moment the fleet, now named the Outer Fleet, arrived. The decision was made to send them through, the same way the Jraenar ship had come. Who knows what would await them. New research had shown that it was possible to build stellar mines, which would detonate when a ship approached. What if the other end of the warp point was so mined?

As the Outer Fleet waited for final orders, a scout destroyer moved west and north from Kronos, looking for new planets and resources. The Drushocka, a so far quiet race had moved three colony ships into our neighboring system. Their planets were no where in sight, and as of this minute, no Klingon ship has seen a Drushocka world or colony. Some say they don't live on worlds. I say rubbish. They immediately declared war on us, saying we had invaded their system. We asked with a smile on our faces, how they can claim a system full of asteroids, but still they insisted on war. Our sole destroyer chased them out of the system, and to date we haven't heard from them. Our ships have explored several systems in that general direction and still no colonies.

STATISTICS:
Klingon= 3 systems, 6 planets, 8th place
Jraenar= 3rd place
Drushocka= 5th place

The Outer Fleet finally got clearance to move. As its bow entered the warp point a transmission of the crew's personal letters were sent back to Kronos. After that only a few general Messages were sent back. No one really knows what happened. Why our fleet met such a quick demise will remain a mystery. The military colony did pick up two Messages: one saying the fleet was under attack by three Jraenar ships, and the other that the flag ship had been lost. We do not know any more.

Kol's ship was sent out back to the warp point. Fearing that the Outer Fleet had been lost, we needed to hold the warp point. His ship had been patched up as best as it could. He waited there for four months while the High Counsel pieced together another fleet. It joined Kol's ship, which had sat there without incident. The new Outer Fleet of four ships were given the same orders as the first. They were to move through the warp and engage the enemy Kol at the lead! One single disabled, abandoned ship waited for them on the other side. Kol cut through it, and afterwards praised the memory of the first Outer Fleet. Apparently, they did meet hostile resistance and found an honorable death in battle, but not without a serious blood-letting. As the ships left the warp point they encountered a sector full of debris. This is where the three had met their end. Kol gripped this iron seat aboard his ship and vowed no Jraenar ship would enter this system without meeting its death. The bridge head was reinforced and soon and second smaller fleet of destroyers joined the Outer Fleet. Two warp points whose destinations were unknown lay at the far eastern edge of the system. Kol decided to divide the ships and cover them both.

Meanwhile, not forgetting other things. A colony far in the north, 2 systems away, had recently been built on a rather inhospitable world. Another race, the Norak, moved a destroyer within one month's travel from this northern colony. The High Counsel decided to ask for a treaty of non-aggression, seeing that they did not wish to fight two wars. Trust me, my friend, every battle has it's time, and I suppose there are many great warriors largely due to scheduling. The Norak refused again and again. Months later they declared war. All war ships were being diverted to the Jraenar war effort, but the High Counsel did send a proto-type light cruiser to guard it. The colonists had in the meantime built several defense satellites, but it was doubtful they would be able to stop any concerted effort. The Norak in turn upped the ante and sent two more ships to join the first. They were on their own, with just a few back yard satellites and a single proto-type which could certainly explode with its first meson volley. Haha! But isn't that how a Klingon likes it.

STATISTICS:
Klingon=6 systems, 10 planets, 7th place
Jraenar= 3rd place
Drushocka=5th place
Norak=15th place

The Outer Fleets had been reinforced with several new light cruiser class ships--the first ships to have armor and sensor guided tracking for the bLasters. Kol's fleet sat on the northern most of the two warp points leading into the Jraenar systems. Actually no one knew which system it was that they were in. Could be both or neither as well. Kol sent his fleet through the northern most, and lo and behold, that lucky bastard finds himself in a teeming system full of Jraenar operations. Two war ships rise from the second planet of four. Kol waits them out. These new Jraenar ships are both coated in armor and defended by low level shielding. They also contain powerful missles. However, the newer Klingon light cruiser class has extra point of defense capabilities. The two ships are easily dispatched.

This moment in Kol's life have given us all much thought, has it not old friend? I have put myself on his bridge many times and wondered if I would have done the same. Four Jraenar colonies left unguarded. No one knew better than Kol, the face of the enemy. Had it not been for a few minor repairs he'd have been with the first three whose debris drifts about the southern sectors of this system. No doubt he considered that. Five Klingon ships willingly within two months wiped four planets clean of Jraenar life. Kol took the lives of 70 million Jraenar. 70 million, friend! Far more than 10 fold...it is nearly 20 fold repaid for the 4 million colonists the Jraenar murdered. Needless to say, Gol'par had spent the Last several years looking for a way to rebirth his movement toward pacifism. Genocide he called it. Genocide. A new word. A stolen word. Not at all a Klingon word. Who knows where he got it. But those, who over the centuries when the weak ones had ruled, had left behind our proud warrior culture, began to move and slow things. Scandals about men whose honor should have never been questioned crept from the spawning pools. I tell you friend, it wasn't long after that the Weak Ones had gained a foot hold on the Counsel again. Peace with the Jraenar! Ha! Let peace be found in the afterlife, I say. Kol was reprimanded. True, he hadn't been given permission to fire on the planets. He had partially deceived the War Counsel about his activities in the Jraenar system, but his wolf pack tactics had improved the protection of the two new colonies in the ajoining system by half...at least. No longer could the Jraenar move on the colonies from two directions. Some say he did it with the knowledge that 300 million new colonists were arriving in the previous system liberated from Jraenar control. But I doubt that.

Kol has been given a dignified, but useless position on the War Counsel. How else could he be promoted and the grievences against him be dropped? As it stands our Outer Fleet defends the other warp point. Several scouts have determined that a good 200 million Jraenar live in the other system. Some say, "I am glad Kol didn't decide to attack that system." I say, "Too bad."

The Norak never moved their three ships. The High Counsel issued them several ultimatums to move out of the system. So having been reinforced with two other light cruisers, the newly created Northern Fleet attacked and defeated the pathetic Norak destroyers. Our spies tell us that the Norak are at war with another race we have yet to meet. It is becaues of this they are weakened. It is possible they are losing the war. These three ships we demolished were possibly half their entire fleet. A senseless waste, and why? We now know the Norak are no real threat, but we still attacked. A declaration of war means little to a warrior. A warrior only declares war to the face of each enemy. Why was no one reprimanded for this cowardly act? Because Gol'par's son runs the northern colony. The Norak ships were in effect blockading trade. Gol'par's son was losing money. We are now truely grand as an empire, my friend, but at what cost. Honor is not a comodity.

Very cool history!!!!
But if you can keep writing at the same rate during all the game, I think that you're more crazy than the average SE4 player (and God, the average SE4 player is a complete madman!).
Please, if the guardians in the asylum let you write, please please continue!!
Oh oh... the Doctor is coming to my cell with a syringe again...

Thanks for the many encouragements. The writing might help me to finish this game instead of killing if early and starting a new one.

Let me buy you a drink, friend. Have you seen the latest numbers from Yoshri (the system where battle rages between the Klingon and the Jraenar)? Terrible...we outnumbered them 2 to 1, and still the colony on Yoshri 3 found itself guarded by a single destroyer. An old destroyer at that. I hear the old man of that ship had his vessel whizzing around, dodging capital ship missles like they were balls in a kids game. Two light cruisers, he toyed with. Brilliant tactics. But for all his fancy flying, they pushed him back from his orbit around the planet, and right as relief would arrive, one of the Jraenar ships released a volley at the planet killing some 6 million colonists. I say, what's the use in getting awards for beautiful loops and fancy tricks. He should have flown into the missles instead of looping around them like some kind of warrior artist. Too many of those these days.

Friend, I say, the war is beginning to smolder. We are twice what the Jraenar are and we cannot protect our own borders. Ship after ship, like rogue flies, they enter Yoshri. And our forces race about the system trying to bring them all down. Since then, I hear we've given up terraforming Yoshri. We hold a lone colony in that system now, I am sure you know it. It's a small, distant place. The Jraenar have great need for carbon dioxide atmospheres, and no doubt *grins* that is why Klingons are keeping that particular planet warm. The High Counsel has dispatched one of two new prototype cruiser class ships to the Yoshri system, claiming it can defeat the foe at two to one odds. Their fancy *** simulators tell them this rubbish. The Jraenar are ruthless and lack honor and are therefore worthy of death, but one thing they are not, is predictable. I doubt they fear us, friend. Not nearly as much as we fear them. The Jraenar ships are moving away from missle technology and have begun using phased beams, which have a greater range than our bLasters and at point blank can tear our ships out of the sky. It is no wonder our scientists are trying hard to duplicate this technology. Yes, I talk like I fear them. I know. I am a pessimist friend. A patriot, but a pessimist.

We must be discreet about this...and what I am about to reveal can cost you your life, were you to...well, if someone else were to....I think you know. A compromise between the peaceful faction and the ruling faction of the Counsel has been reached. Gol'par does not wish to see Klingons die, just like the rest of us. He's an opportunist of the broadest sort, if you get my meaning. Haha! Our scientists are several months away from it, but we are perfecting the use of drop ships and ground troops. Our construction yards stand ready. Do you know what this means? Invasion, friend. If our diplomats cannot convince the Jraenar to cease their attacks, we shall have little choice but to take their worlds one by one...until they comply or cease to be as a free people. Yes, friend, the knife maker is richer yet...old wisdom says it is the sign of a Klingon golden age. We're also enroute to set up mine fields along the Klingon/Jraenar border. Most of the mines are built, but we do not have enough layers to spread them around. This should slow their intrusive nature. In Yoshri, we presently have 8 ships scattered around the system, all guarding one single colony. In the adjoining system, Forlon, Kol's old fleet, consisting of five older ships, sits guarding a warp point leading into the other half of the Jraenar system. A main concern of mine is the age of our ships. Many cannot return to be refitted due to the war, and we do not have the resources to redo them all at once. I hear the mineral stock piles are at their lowest ever.

But that brings me to the good news. As you may know, if you have studied the Klingon star charts, that Kronos is located in relation to the center of the galaxy half way between the west edge and the center...right along the equator of the galaxy. From sensors, star charts, predictions of warp points and just from lack of activity, we believe that the entire southwestern quadrant of the galaxy is uninhabited. Scouts ships are on their way to map it and uncover any life. If it is true, that it is uninhabited, because of position, we should have sole access to it. Already our strategists have seen the grand design, and are positioning forces to choke off this area from the rest of the galaxy. If we are able to colonize this as of yet, uncharted area, we will rule over nearly a 5th of the galaxy. M class planets have been so far extremely rare...this area must have them in order for this empire to grow...otherwise we will have to tie up research for years to come trying to find a way to colonize ice planets....and have you ever heard of a Klingon building snow men?

We've encountered another race. Sent on a deep space scouting mission, a destroyer class, loaded with extra supplies, left Kronos to find the Drushocka. After coming to the galactic edge in a system called Lenoltris, where a great beastish black hole attempted to suck them in, they turned north in to Butukret, a wasteland nebulae. From there, it went west into Marjoram...the homesystem of the Drushocka. Before the captain of that ship stood the sparkling home world of the Drushocka. Several warships raced out to meet our destroyer. Years ago the Drushocka declared war on us, and we had not seen them since. Our emmissary stated they were on a scouting mission of peace, not to gather intelligence, but simply to meet and greet, as it is said. The Drushocka surrounded our innocent vessel, and most likely through some elaborate trickery, took the crew hostage and bLasted the empty hull into nothingness. That day we encountered a new race, the Fluidic Space Imperium, who are allied with the Drushocka. Naturally, our diplomats distrusted them. However, their smooth tongues and honey-ed words filled our diplomats with awe and wonder. They negotiated the release of our imprisoned scout crew. Since then the High Counsel has taken up a tight alliance with the Fluidic Space Imperium. I smell Gol'par on this one. There is something to gain here. Otherwise, why would the Klingon High Counsel take in as a friend someone who can also befriend the Drushocka. The Imperium is obviously playing us for fools against each other. Their are no peace makers in space. Because of the location of the Drushocka homeworld, we now suspect the Drushocka behind the battered state of the Norak. Maybe it is high time we convince the Norak to side with us.

The Last thing I'll mention, since I see your glass is almost empty is a little known secret called Gergan. Do you know it? It is a system, which the general public thinks still as yet unexplored. However, one of our colony ships from Yoshri fled a small raiding force of Jraenar ships. Some lunatic in the High Counsel sent a ship loaded with colonists as a deep space scout. I suppose someone thought it might save time, as they were bound to find a suitable planet. They attempted to skirt around the Jraenar border, but ran into as I said, a raiding party. They chased it through their own adjoining system, Eurul, but left off in Gergan. Out of fuel and unable to return through Jraenar territory, they picked a world and set up shop. They transmit sporadically. Last we heard a Jraenar ship was close and they are without defenses. They are attempting to set up a makeshift mine field around the planet just to buy some time for their construction yard to get up and running.

That is the whole tragedy of Yoshri. We needed Yoshri 3 to help link up and save Gergan. I fear now that we can do little to help. Qa'pla!!!

Klingon=23 planets, 29 ships, 1st place
Drushocka=11th place (the war between them and the Norak must be costly)
Jraenar=6th place
Norak= 13th place
Fluidic Space Imperium = 5th place
