India vs Pakistan 2008/09 Scenarios
In light of the increased tensions following the Bombay attacks, I've begun to compile a list of both side's munitions and the probability of their use:
Guide to the Indian TOE with units arranged in increasing order of commonness from Most Common to Least Common
TANKS:
T-72M1: Brought from the Soviet Union. (at least 1,000 were imported)
Ajeya Mk 1: Indian produced T-72M1 (900~ built)
Ajeya Mk 2: Modernized T-72M1; fire control and night vision upgraded. (692 wanted, as of July 2008, 415 were delivered)
T-55/105: Overhauled T-55. As of 2005, they had 450 operational T-55s.
T-90S Bhishma: 310 bought from Russia, deal inked to import another 347 in 2007; current count is unknown, but at least 400 probably.
Arjun: Program will end when 124 are delivered.
IFVs:
There's really just one choice here; the BMP-2 Sarath. It's an Indian Produced BMP-2. About 1,200~ were built. You should use the Sarath-M as it's the most modern; e.g. it's not that hard to upgrade the cannon ammo, etc.
ARTILLERY:
Catapult: Primary SP Artillery System. The Bhim from what I've been reading, appears to be still caught in "developmental limbo", with no real decision made on producing it for the Indian army made.
Towed Artillery: Essentially anything goes; the Indians have large amounts of everything.

Re: India vs Pakistan 2008/09 Scenarios
Interesting stuff Mark. Are you compiling similar info for Pakistan?
India and Pakistan nearly went to war in late 2001/early 2002 under similar circumstances - following a terrorist attack on the Indian Parliament. I hope they will show more restraint this time. There hasn't been a military build up on the frontier so far - as in 2001.
Indian high tech weaponry.
T-90S
BMP-2 Sarath
Together ...
Indian low tech ...

Now I am.

Well, things are a lot grimmer this time; I mean in the Parliament attack; only five people died; thsi time around, we have a much larger casualty count -- this is not something that can be brushed under the carpet and resolved via shouting...

Re: India vs Pakistan 2008/09 Scenarios
Pakistani MBTs
Al Khalid
T-80
Pakistani APCs
Al-Talha
The Talha seems to be listed as the ‘Tahla’ in the Pakistan OOB.
It is also in service with the Iraqi army.
Al-Saad
I don’t know whether it is in service … yet.
