Default Questions about campaign play

After more than 2 years of playing around with SPMBT I’ve finally decided to move on to campaign play, which I started a couple days ago with the “Thunder in the Sinai” campaign. However there’s some info I’m missing that I haven’t been able to find in the game manual, that keeps me from knowing WTF I´m doing, here are my questions:

1.- Are the core points the maximum amount of formations I can buy?

2. - Does fixed core means the designer have set the maximum number of formations I can have?

3.- What factor determines the purchase points allocated?

4. - In the second battle I was given some mortars, atgm´s and artillery units I didn’t buy, are these units fixed to the scenario?

5. - What are the support points exactly for and how are they allocated? For the second battle I was given 1 support point which I couldn’t use since no unit cost that.

6.- What are the “repairs” I´m supposed to do between battles? (to damaged units?)

7. - I know from the manual how points are gained but, is there any practical difference between gaining purchase, support and repair points?

Thanks in advance
Robert

1. Maximum amount of core unit purchase points.

2. Not the maximum amount of formations, but the designer has bought a company or whatever as your core units. So you cannot purchase your core units yourself.

3. The designer has given you an specific amount of points to purchase yopur core with.

4. These are auxiliary units given by the scenario designer for you to use. (Kinda "free of charge" units)

5. Support points are given in each scenario and can be used by you to purchase support units for your core for the duration of the scenario. ONLY for one scenario, not for the whole campaign.

6. After each battle you are given an amount of core purchase points that you can use to repair damaged core units or expand your core by buying new units.

7. Purchase and repair are same points that apply only to your core units. Support points are only given for each scenario and are used to buy units before each scenario.

Thanks a lot for your reply it has been really clarifying, I appreciate a lot.

Though I just want to ask these 3 questions I got from your reply:

1.- You say that Core points are the maximum amount of core unit purchase points, but from the same campaign (thunder in the sinai) I see that I have 200 core points but much more purchase points and for every formation I get my core points reduced by one, so?

2.- For the second battle of the same campaign I get just one suport point that of course I can´t use because everything costs more than that. Are you saying that´s the way the designer wanted to be?

3.- I got to see the same campaign with the campaign editor and I see negative figures in the points columns. What is that suppose to represent or mean? that the player is to lose those points?

Campaign play seems interesting, the only reason I stayed that long from it is I don´t like to play against the AI much, what´s the tool used to create campaigns? the editor alone?

Thanks in advance
Robert

1. first off, you are looking at "Max Core Troops" which are your Core units, if you notice it subtracts for every unit you buy. There is also "Force Value" which calculates the cost of your force.

2.I'd have to say that is correct. The game does not recognize 'zero' so, when a designer does not wish to give support points it shows a '1'. (which you can not do anything with).

3.The -00001 represents the 'Zero' mentioned above. This is just programing language and neccessary.

I have been playing with making a campaign also. The only editor is the scenario editor to make a scenario and the 'edit campaign to add scenarios.

the best way to learn is play a few. If you have the full version you can extract the scenarios from the campaign to take a look at how the designer set up their scenarios.

there are alot of trick to making things work, I am learning them as I go. There is not a specific tutorial on making one but, search "campaign" here or on the web and you can get bits and pieces. ***Also basic details are in the Game Manual .

Few free to ask questions anytime.

The "Mexican Drug War" and "Dutch Terror" campaigns are pretty small so you might want to open those up in the editor and see how they are put together.
