Cannot play in full screen mode
I wanted to know if anyone has had any problems with running the program in full screen mode. I get an error labeled "SAL Error" and says, "lpDD->SetDisplayMode() failed, code 80004001". After clicking OK I get another message saying, "DirectDraw could not be initialized! Error code 80004001". I'm running Windows XP Pro with NVidia GeForce FX5950 Ultra (driver ver. 7.7.3.0) and DirectX 9.0c installed.
The game runs just fine in windowed mode. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
Bill

Re: Cannot play in full screen mode
Press START then RUN then type in dxdiag and check for problems and let us know what it tells you. You can test your DirectDraw functions under the Display tab.
Are you running the game mode DirectX or GDI?

Re: Cannot play in full screen mode
After some further testing, I've found I can run the game at any resolution in windowed mode, but only 1024x768 or lower in full screen mode (it doesn't matter which mode--DirectX or GDI--the results are the same). My current screen resolution is 1680x1050 and I have a wide-screen display.
The results of all of the test on the dxdiag were successful, the following notices: d3d9d.dll is a debug version (and will run slower than the retail version) and nv4_disp.dll is not digitally signed. If you want the full results, I saved the file.

Re: Cannot play in full screen mode
Apple flat screen 20" display--computer is a desktop. I also have a laptop with a 15" (res: 1920x1200) on which the game will play just fine.

Re: Cannot play in full screen mode
Do you have the taskbar "pop-up" enabled on your 20" desktop? That's a kiss of death.
Does your laptop with the 15" use the same DirectX version as your desktop. Those two .DLL's you mentioned sound a bit iffy. Try installing the latest versions. That may help
