Is it just me or does the Organic Armor not regenerate?
In the description, Organic Armor states that it regenerates 20 damage points per combat turn, yet I've tested it. I made a ship that only had 1 Organic Armor I component, I set up a battle between some fairly weak enemy ship, let it shoot me once, then moved out of its range. It had scored like 30 damage points. I ended the turn, and this amount stayed the same for the next turn. I ended the turn again, and it still didn't start regenerating. I don't know if this is on the bug list yet or anything, but I just thought I'd mention it. =)

It should regen if not completely destroyed, but I havent used it. Send a description of your problem (include the ship designs involved in the fight too) to MM. I thought this was working right.

The two will hover, spinning inches above the ground. With a giant buttered cat array, a high-speed monorail could easily link New York with Chicago.

Re: Is it just me or does the Organic Armor not regenerate?
Organic armor seems to work better the more pieces of it you have. It seems to split damage between all armor sections more or less evenly, so no piece gets totally destoyed if there is another armor piece that can take the damage.
I have been in battles when my destroyers got hit repeatedly, a couple of the organic componets show as being destoyed while the Last Last one is undamaged. In the next turn I look back and the destroyed armor sections have partially regenerated.

IF you take a baseship, and outfit it with nothing but the bare minimums (Master Computer, Engines, Solar Sails), and fill the rest with Organic Armour, you have a ship that is virtually indestructible to all but armour skipping weapons. Of course, all you can do is ram the other ships, but yours are essentially invincible.

Re: Is it just me or does the Organic Armor not regenerate?
hhmm...well, when I ran my test, I only had a single Organic Armor component. I haven't tried it with multiple components. If thats not it, then maybe I have some bizaare machine specific conflict that won't allow those components to regen ;\ Just my luck.... BTW the enemy was using Anti-proton beams exclusively. I'll screw around with it more later I guess.

Re: Is it just me or does the Organic Armor not regenerate?
I think there's a standing issue of exactly HOW armor regeneration is supposed to work. Most people think that each piece of armor should regenrate the stated number of points each turn of combat. All along, it has seemed to regenerate as a block rather than each piece individually. Perhaps MM intended that it work the way it does now? The description is not all the clear, and the complaint has existed for some time. You would think it would have been "fixed" if it were not working correctly. This may be another case of poor documentation rather than real bugs.
