What scales attract special units?
So I'm playing Bogarus when one dark stormy night an ice druid turns up at my door wanting to serve my pretender whose domain is "cold and darkness". I assume he appeared because of my cold and magic scales. Another time a shadow seer appeared because he had forseen my pretender's triumph. Was this due to luck and magic scales? What attracts these independents? If I had death and magic scales would a necromancer turn up looking for employment? Are the scales related to their magic skill, e.g. 2 cold to get ice druids, 3 luck to get shadow seers, etc?

Re: What scales attract special units?
Turmoil attracts barbarian invasions.
Also trolls.
Death 3 attracts necromancers to help you.
Death 3 will also have someone dying and leaving you an item.
Growth +magic (3 each??) gives you ancient presences.
Magic+ and Luck3 will give a good chance of getting magic items.
I don't recall what brings knights.

Re: What scales attract special units?
I think knights come with turmoil just like Barbarians. I think the difference is due the province type - barbarians tend to hit "uncivilised" provinces like forests and mountains, whereas knights tend to hit "civilised" provinces like farmland and plains.
Either that, or knights are the result of high order and bad luck. Even still, I'm pretty sure I've only ever had knights hit those two province types.

Re: What scales attract special units?
I think he's looking for scales that cause commanders to decide to join you.

Luck must help, of course. Magic may make it more likely to get mage commanders. Terrain type may have an effect, too.

Re: What scales attract special units?
What are all the various commanders you can get through luck (not counting National Heroes)? I remember seeing:
H2 priest with a bunch of fodder (can be very useful if you get him early)
Ice Druids
Shadow Seers (and maybe another event that gives you Shadow Assassins?)
Necromancers
Animists (is this the guy who didn't want to get staked in your bog, or someone else?)
Amber Clan mages and priests (various different events? Sometimes showing up with free units - mermen, or sea-stags? Can any underwater nation get them, or are they nation-specific?)
Sirens
Druid with a bunch of pigs (or was it wolves? And was he the one who didn't want to get "staked"?)
Asmodiar, the Demon King, with his retinue of 50 Devils (OK, I made the last one up, cause I can't remember anything else, but that would be a pretty cool event )
Is that it then?

Re: What scales attract special units?
I believe I've gotten assassins to volunteer as an event. The ethereal ones.

Yup - I've had them. If only they had more hits...
