New to Multiplayer
Hello. I'm new to the DOM2 world in general, and am curious about multiplayer. Where does one play, how do you go about it, etc.? Anyone need a player for games?

Re: New to Multiplayer
Great to have you around.
You'll find that multi-player runs in two formats. Servers (that stay up) and PBEM (which wis the e-mail game). Both are popular. But turns usually run about 24-48 hour turnarounds. So games take FOREVER. It's totally worth it though. Just don't sign up for like 6 games because you won't have time to play them all at turn 60.
happy birthday

Probably no new games starting right now due to the holidays though. Give it a week.

Re: New to Multiplayer
Be forewarned, that once you start playing MP, SP loses its challenges. MP is great fun and really makes you use all parts of the game. Just watch for Posts in this forum for new games starting up, or there is often a Sunday blitz game on irc.gamesurge.net (#dominions).

You missed blitz games- ones with a server that stays up for several hours while players do thier turns at once. Every weekend a few of these happen on the dominions IRC channel.

Re: New to Multiplayer
How do I get involved with them? What is a blitz game? And I'm not too computer literate...what is an IRC channel? How do I go about accessing it?

An IRC channel is basicly a chat room. In the case of a dominions blitz game is used as a place to get organized and conduct diplomacy once the game starts. Getting set up for IRC is slightly involved, but it is easy to use. If you are interested, you can download software to connect to the channel here. Once you install and run it, to get to the dominions channel go under servers and select gamesurge, then connect to it. Once you are connected it will prompt you for a channel, click add and put in #dominions as the channel name. Then select it from the list of channels and your're in.
It is very easy to get involved in a game from there, if you sign on on a weekend chances are a game will be happening, and more players are always welcome.
