Default attacking planet bug?

I had a fleet over a planet. I wanted to continue the attack that it began the prior turn, then move on to another planet. So, I gave it orders to attack planet it was at, then move and attack next planet. Instead, it just left the planet it was at without attacking, and moved to attack the next planet. Second bug: I had on prior attacks run into the problem that ships given "attack planet" order would bypass the planet to go after armed fleeing ships. So, I revised "attack planet" order to place planetary defenses then colonized planet at top of target priority list. Now, my carriers lead the charge toward the planet! They launch their fighters as they go, which is good, but they are vulnerable to planetary defenses. How do I get my fleet to send fighters to attack planet, but keep carriers out of range of planet? Finally, is it normal for my fighters to then initiate a ground attack, as they did this round? Thanks, DB

The seek order should keep you pursuing the target until it is dead. This is equivalent to the attack order in SE4

An attack order is just a move-to while not avoiding enemies. You're already there, so that order is done, and they move on.

Thanks for clarifying. Last turn, my fighters attacked the planet and I got a message that a ground combat had begun, and I would see a combat report next turn. This turn, nothing. My ships just keep attacking from space. Any idea why? (Also, every one of my battles could not be shown. The game seems to be getting increasingly buggy. Is this the norm?
Frustrating to see all my carefully laid plans brought down because the battle simulator constantly malfunctions.

Yea, yea, yea, this is all nice, BUT where is the planet attacking bug? Do you have pictures of it?
