Default System Facilities - bugged?

I'm referring specifically to the system-wide facilities that provide resources to the empire (System Robotoid Facility for example).

I am experiencing what appears to be a nasty bug in that these NEVER provide any resources at all. In fact, building one seems to LOWER my resources (on all planets in the system) by 2k a year.

As a test, I created a new game with max tech and used a stock AI as my race. One system had 3 planets in it to play with. So, I did the following:

Starting mineral production: 30k / 29k / 29k
Scrapped a facility on each one then generated a turn: no change to minerals (of course)
Built a Mineral Scanner 3 on one planet: resources went DOWN to 28k / 27k / 27k!!
Scrapped Mineral Scanner 3 and generated a turn: NO CHANGE

I am running SE4 Gold v1.84, no mods.

Anyone else seeing this problem?

And as a side question, while Mineral Scanner 3 is cheaper to build than a Robotoid Factory 3, why would anyone EVER spend that much research for a trivial reduction in a one-time resource expense?

Hmm, this is a bit of a puzzle. From what you say, something does seem wrong.

Here is the way it should work.

To put in the System Robotoid, you must of course scrap one facility to make room, so only one resource should drop in production; the one you deleted, of course. When you complete the new facility, you will see no change on the individual planets. You should see the 30% increase in the empire window. For instance if you have but one system and the totals are 100K for each resource, then with the system robotoid factory, you should see 130K.

The 2K drop you see on the planet screen, I cannot explain.

Ok, rerunning a test, because I only looked at the planet information screen. Now it seems that the "bug" is only a display problem. The line where it says "Resource Production" never changes (except for the 2k drop "bug"). However, it DOES show up in the Empire Status window. Likewise, scrapping the facility does drop the net resources back to the value it was prior to building the facility.

As for the 2k drop, I can't explain it either, but I HAVE narrowed it down. After 5 turns in a new game, my resources drop once, regardless of any changes (I made none, and it still dropped).

"After 5 turns in a new game, my resources drop once, regardless of any changes (I made none, and it still dropped)."

That would be your population dropping from Happy or Jublient to Indifferent. Time does that.
