Mage Bane questions
I have a Sword Mage Bane (65 Earth gems) that says it is designed to kill Mages (and magic beings) It says no MR can withstand it and will knock them unconscious, and kill them by undoing the fabric they are made of.
Now my questions is this:
It says The Damage is 10, while the Mage or magic being is unconscious is it getting hit for 10 points every round? (that would take a LONG time to kill a King of Deeper Earth with 130 hit points.
Does the 10 Damage mean when the sword is used agianst conventional troops OR agianst conventional AND magic troops it just also knocks the Mage out?
it makes no sense to me that it would only hit for 10 points a round when you only go about 8 to 10 rounds.
Am I reading this wrong?

Re: Mage Bane questions
the mage bane will knock and keep them unconscious. if your combattant is unable to kill an unconscious opponent w/ a 10 damage sword (ie. +str vs armor...), then things won't turn out all that well
once I had a ghost king, but he was in enemy dominion, so w/ his low strength it must have taken him 20 rounds to kill his unconscious opponent. A high regen target might just laugh you off; or at least have nice fuzzy dreams about doing so.

Re: Mage Bane questions
I think you also need to initially hit with at least 1 point of damage for the unconsciousness to work, and the 10+str damage is not AP or AN. So you should ideally have quickness, and good attack skill and strength. An Arch Devil or something along those lines would be good.
The "kill magic beings" bit is +999 damage, but has an MR check and also needs you to hit for 1 point of damage in the regular attack.

Re: Mage Bane questions
There is one magic unit that the mage bane does not seem to knock unconscious. Can you guess what it is?

Re: Mage Bane questions
No, actually, it is a much less costlier unit.

Re: Mage Bane questions
Oh, what about Iron Angel? That'd be thematic - Mage Bane not working against the magical being who turned away from magic.

Re: Mage Bane questions
That unresistable +100 fatigue per hit (unless it's been changed? Haven't used Magebane for a while) should also be converted to hit point damage after fatigue hits 200.
