The 2000 unit limit
Can somone tell me exactly what this means, and, can it be changed? Does this include Mines, Satellites, Fighters, Weapons Platforms, Space Stations, etc?
Going waaayyy back to Empire, all my games turned into Epic proportions Lasting days and sometimes weeks...I am concerned that 2000 units for the universe may not be enough....

Re: The 2000 unit limit
hehe is your job title really needed on the bottom of your post??
Unit limit currently doesn't quit work as expected. it is supposed to be a 2000 limit on fighters/mines/weaps/sats combined.
if you put 100 mines in a group (happens automatically if you launch them together) they count as 1 against the limit. In a current game i am a little fighter heavy, i have at least over 3000 fighters, not to mention weaps, sats and mines.
these are just my observations, i am sure someone can tell us what is actually going on.

Re: The 2000 unit limit
Unit limits only count against units in space at any one time. You can have as many mines/fighters/sats as you can store on your planets or in cargo bays on ships, but you can only have 2000, or what ever you set the limit too, in space at any one time.
Since troops/weapons platforms cannot be in space they are not affected by the unit limits.
From what I have heard, the problem with the ship limit is it is supposed to be ships and bases combined, but it is actually allowing you 2000 of each.

Re: The 2000 unit limit
if that is the case, i think the limit is broken, as i usually launch all my fighters and have them floating around, i will check again and do a manual count,.... might take me a while, i will have to take off both shoes to count that high.

No way! Really?
That makes sense!
I had been wondering about that for some time now. The game never seemed to calculate the number of units correctly. In another thread, someone suggested that the game counted a group of units as just one unit. But your explanation makes much more sense. Thanks!
