Default Does the computer cheat?

I don't know if the computer cheat or not, but I've noticed some of the same weapon I have is twice as strong for the computer. For example, we both have the Wave Motion Gun III on our ships. The computer guns damage for 280 while my only damages for 140. Just wondering, why this is happening?

The computer only cheats if when you created the game you chose the option for computer players to have a "bonus".

The difference in weapons is probably due to mounts. If you notice 280 is twice 140 so I would say you are using standard weapon mount and computer is using a Heavy Weapon mount. Weapon takes more space but does twice the damage.

The computer does not cheat
It was the weapon mounts I would thing
it should show that it is on a mount

The two will hover, spinning inches above the ground. With a giant buttered cat array, a high-speed monorail could easily link New York with Chicago.

Detailed answer.

When you create a ship there is a mount button to the left. If you push it it will show you different mount types and the requirements for them. The advanage of mounts is that they do more damage.

Hope it helps

Expansion on detail.

Mounts also require more space/weight. IIRC Meson goes from 20 to 30kt.
