Got a possibly noobish question
Okay in the game i am playing I have had one of my star systems cut off from the warp points that led to the rest of my empire.
I have 49 million citizens and several important research facilities on the only world in said system and was wondering if there is any way to send a releif ship to help them.
How do I move to that system?
And if I can get to that system how do I keep my ship supplied enough to make it?

Re: Got a possibly noobish question
Your ships can not exist outside of a system. There is no FTL travel, or travel between systems without using warp points. You can research Stellar Manipulation, which will give you Gravitational Quantum Resonators IIRC that will allow you to build new WPs (starting at SM 3).

In such a case, and if he had a Space Port, would the research still be received by his empire? Even if there is no warp path? I know you will lose comunications with anyone if there are no warp paths to them.

Yes. Spaceports are magical and can cross any barriers.

Re: Got a possibly noobish question
Would you rather have to manage the stores of every resource on every planet? Seems rather impractical with 100s, nay 1000s of planets... And then think of the AI trying to handle that...
