M82 Barrett Soft Vehicle Kills, Range, & Accuracy
I am not sure, but it is apparent to me that the current modeling of the M82 Barrett sniper rifle may need another look. From literature, I find that this weapon can penetrate up to 1.5 inches of rolled steel...that would inflict serious damage if not kill a soft vehicle: jeeps, scout cars, trucks, some armored cars, and most wheeled APC's. Most tracked APC, from the rear, are most vulnerable to the M82 munitions. In addition, Ranging and accuracy models for this weapon I suspect could better represent the accuracy of this weapon at distances between 1200 and 1600 meters.
I constructed a test using other sniper rifles and the M82 Barrett with the results not showing any marked differences in kill ratios or accuracy at ranges beyond 900 meters against soft vehicles. I used USMC against Turkish soft vehicles as I am currently working on Turkey's Lightening Strike Operation 2nd Echelon Battle scenario.
Thus, I am led to request that we look at this weapon's specifications to include increased AP Penetration and AP Kills, and increase Accuracy to 90. This would necessitate reducing HE rounds to accommodate AP rounds. A two-man team may load up with two mags of AP and three of HE.
