Please add slots to the High Score Table
Once again I'm loving the game immensely. But one thing I really want, is to have the Top Scores show more than just ten. I want to be able to see some of my worst exploits along with my best. 20 or 30 slots would be great.
Thanks!

Re: Please add slots to the High Score Table
Maybe have it show the top 10 scores and then under that the 10 worst scores

Nah, I rather forget all those negative score games I've had.

Re: Please add slots to the High Score Table
I can't see any use in this unless they also stored a mission log. It would be kinda fun to click on a lousy score and bring up a window describing how at your first port of call on a ten year mission, Esmeralda sabotaged your star drive, leaving you only enough time to limp back to Glory with your thrusters before the time was up, and get demoted to something truly pitiful.

Re: Please add slots to the High Score Table
I agree, especially because of the type of game this is.
I'd like infinite high scores, personally, and to see some other stats. The highest scores are interesting as far as they go, but as others have noted, chance has a lot to do with success. However the player's caution or recklessness plays a major part in the chances of getting a high score verus surviving at all. So I would love to be able to get some stats on what my average score per game was, and/or a score graph, showing progress over time.
Without such stats, the high scores may indicate having played the game a huge number of times taking crazy risks and dying 95% of the time, or it might show the same scores for a player who is very skilled and survives 80% of the time.
The compulsive, puzzle-solving, and risk-balancing nature of the game mean it could really benefit from more records and statistics. Sure, your highest score is really impressive, but what's your average score, and what's your survival rate??? No way to tell without more records and/or statistics. With them, there would be more goals to go for besides just the high score. Without them, after the top ten scores are pretty high, playing a good but not great game just gets forgotten.

Re: Please add slots to the High Score Table
It'd also make a lot of sense to be able to break up the high scores by mission type (perhaps as an optional filter) and by mod.

PvK: Erm, the game *does* break up the scores according to mission type, and you can only see the scores for the current mod.

I would describe what it does as "listing the mission type with each entry, in the same list of ten top scores." The problem with that is, with only ten showing, if one mission type tends to score more or less than others, then if I play ten great games of the highest scoring mission type, I won't be able to see my highest scores of the lower-scoring mission types.
As for filtering by mod, aha! I hadn't patched the installation I was testing on. It didn't filter by mod in version 1.0. Patched now.

Re: Please add slots to the High Score Table
Hmmm... weird. I just tried some more, and now it seems like it is lumping my modded scores in with the old ones again. How does one clear the old high scores? Go find and delete a file?

Re: Please add slots to the High Score Table
Firstly, my apologies. I was confusing mission type with sector size.
Secondly, the modd thing just shouldn't happen. The game keeps completely separate high score files for each mod (the information appears to be stored in the mod's game.cfg file).
You haven't copied the game.cfg from the default game into a mod directory have you? (or vice versa). That would explain pre-existing scores appearing in the wrong place.
