Running at 640x480
On my laptop I gotta run at 640x480 to have 16M colours.
When I run at this resolution it doesn't display the far left and bottom of the SE4 screen, is this common at that resolution with SE4?

Yikes! That is horrific!
Can you not just turn down the colours a bit and get 800x600?
Usually on laptops, you can set the desktop size separately from your actual resolution, and then just scroll the screen by moving your mouse past an edge.
Have you tried that?

Re: Running at 640x480
Less than 16M and SE4 won't run.
Yes you can set the screen size and the desk seperatly, it would seem as there are two bars for it, but alter one and the other follows!
Weird.
I was so happy I finally got SE4 to work on it after reinstalling the OS and updating the Winsock!

Re: Running at 640x480
Oh, you mean 16 bit = 65536 colours, not 16 million.
Is there a checkbox to lock/unlock the two bars?
Maybe under the advanced properties...

Re: Running at 640x480
Nope that didn't solve the problem.
I can have a different resolution for the desktop and the screen. But the memory restricts the desktop from being bigger than 640x480 with more colours than 256 (1M video memory).
I can set the screen size to 640x480 and the desktop to 800x600 with 256 colours. But when I try to set 65k colours it turns back to 640x480.
Shouldn't I be able to use 800x600 with 65K colours with 1M memory? I thought so.
Another weird thing is that I only can choose between 256 or 65K colours, not 16 or anything else.
Irritating

Re: Running at 640x480
Ugh. I guess maybe you need a new laptop SE4, since you probably won't be able to find upgrades for something that old.

Re: Running at 640x480
I've found the latest drivers for Win95. Those are as good as they get as they are revised several times.
The system shoudl work fine and as it runs SE4 I see no need to upgrade.
I usually run things on my desktop but I'll be away soon and will miss some PBW turns if I can't get this to work.
It shall work. I won't give up!
