Try turning all the sound off in the game. If that helps we'll discuss the next step. Also, read the "Game crashes and flashing screens thread, you might find some info there that may help you.

When you try this make sure you start the game fresh from a re-boot so we know nothing else is running that could be interfering

Remember to switch both sounds off in the preferences menu as well as the mouse click in the game options programme's misc tab.

Cheers

Then you may have a Codec that does not like MP3 format sound files. See the \game data\sounds\wav folder. Read the Sound_problems.txt file, and follow the instructions there to covert from MP£ to WAV format.

(Converting to WAV format is easier than trying to track down any rogue sound codec you have installed.)

Cheers
Andy

If you have patched the game the way we have recommended you will now have both MP3 and WAV in your WinSPMBT\Game Data\Sounds folder.

The only thing you need to do to switch the sounds.ini that points the game to the MP3's to the file that points the game to the WAV files.

Look in the WinSPMBT\Game Data\Sounds\WAV folder. You will see a Sounds.ini . If you open it you will see it points the game at the WAV files . COPY that to your WinSPMBT\Game Data\Sounds folder and your game will start using the WAV files that are already in that folder rather than the MP3s

OK.... it looks like I have been assuming I issued ver 2.5 with a set of WAV files based on that they were in my master game. The INI that runs them is in the Sounds/WAV folder but you will only find a few WAV files from the last patch and I included them because I assumed everyone else had them as well..

OOPS !

OK, < PLAN B >

1] Do you have a copy of WinSPWW2 ?? If yes this is simple.. Copy the WAV files you have in your MBT sounds folder now and move them to the WAV folder then copy ALL of the WAV files you find in the WinSPWW2 sound folder to the MBT sound folder then move those files you saved in the WAV folder to the MBT sounds folder. Now, look in the WAV folder for the sounds.ini file and copy that into the Sounds folder and your game will run on WAV files instead of MB3's.

( it sounds worse than it is......)

2] If you DO NOT have a copy of winspww2 then here's what you need to do

If you are having sound problems please follow this procedure

Download a sound program like Goldwave that allows you to batch convert sound files

www.goldwave.com

After starting up Goldwave find the Sound folder. If you installed the default location for the game look
in C:\Program Files\Shrapnel Games\The Camo Workshop\WinSPMBT\Game Data\Sounds.

When Goldwave is loaded click on the "File" tab and look for 'Batch Processing'. A new screen will
appear. Click on the 'Add files' button then add all the MP3 files in the Game Data\Sounds folder to Goldwave

Once you have done that you want to choose the "Save as Type" to .WAV and the 'Attributes' to EDIT---- PCM unsigned 8 bit stereo @ 22050 hz. on the "Convert" tab after checking off the "convert files to this format" box

Next. click on the Folder tab and check the " Store all files in their original folder" box

Then press the "begin" button and Goldwave will convert all the MP3 sound files and make copies as .WAV

Once this has been done copy the "sounds.ini" found in the WAV folder to the Game Data\Sounds folder and
overwrite the one in there now

This converts your game to run WAV sound files instead of MP3's and we have found the few people who have
reported sound problems have had success using this conversion method

IN any event adding all the WAV files to the next patch is now on the to-do list.

Hi Andy , i have d/loaded Goldwave, and did this, i had to get 4,26 w98 goldwave, i fired it up, selected, batch conversion, put all my mp3 files in,theres no option forPGM 24 bit Stereo, on drop down so i chose 24bit stereo, ticked overwrite files, and converted, , then copied Ini file to that area over writing one in there, i know have a full set of mp3 files which play single on media player, and a set of Wav files with no sound on them? and no sound in game, is it because i have mp3 and wav in one folder? i also changed a single mp3 file 36 in another converter, and it played ok in windows media player , marching i think, but not in game or sound folder of SPMBT, no i dont have spwaw2, but do have DOS version of SPMBT, thanks for your trouble,
