Blood sacrifice - optimisation?
Hi there,
Apologies - this has doubtless been covered before, but I really don't seem to get good results from the search function on this board; I can't seem to find what I'm looking for.
I'm playing my first game as Mictlan, and I know that blood sacrifice is instead of preaching, ie. to raise and propagate dominion. I build a temple, put a priest on Sacrifice, and make sure he has a blood slave each turn. Micromanagement hell, but easy enough.
Does the number of slaves sacrificed make any difference? Is it like one check per slave? Is there a max?
Does the priest's holy level make any difference?
Does the priest's blood level make any difference?
What about the current dom level in the province?
What about the pretender's dom level (chosen at start)?
TIA,
CC

Re: Blood sacrifice - optimisation?
1 check per slave. I think max is holy level + 1 for temple + 2 with jade knife? Not 100% sure about that. I don't think blood level matters.
The other stuff - current level and starting dominion matters the same as any other temple check, as far as I know.

Re: Blood sacrifice - optimisation?
I thought it was just 1 check per slave, and the temple was simply required, rather than giving a bonus.

If it is different, someone please let me know so I can update this.

Re: Blood sacrifice - optimisation?
By max I meant max # of slaves a priest can sacrafice. I was unclear. I could be wrong, as well.

Re: Blood sacrifice - optimisation?
You sacrifice 1 slave per holy level (+2 max for a jade knife); each slave acts as a temple for the turn. Thus, the pretender's dominion level (+1 per 5 temples) is relevant.

Re: Blood sacrifice - optimisation?
Weee, thanks all, that's just what I needed to know.
So it's not really like preaching, in that temple checks can raise dom from (eg.) 9 to 10, where preaching can't.
Excellent. Lots of sacrificing then,
CC

As stated by the devs this is not actually used in the temple check formula. Only your pretender's base dominion is used.

Re: Blood sacrifice - optimisation?
The "+1 per 5 temples" applies to your max dominion, but not to the "how likely is a temple to generate a plop each turn", nor to the same question about your god and prophet.

The priest will automatically take blood slaves once he's started sacrificing.

So he will. He even takes the right number. How interesting. Why do people complain about micro hell then??
