Original new scenario- take a look!
From the briefing:
You, an elite AH-64D Apache attack helicopter pilot, were called up a few days ago to fly your chopper on a combat mission. A third world country has invaded a nearby country. The US Army has been deployed to stop them. Satellite recon tells us that two enemy bridges are being used heavily by the OPFOR. Your mission: Fly in and destroy them, making sure that NO enemy unit gets across the river.
This is my first scenario for WinSPMBT, so I hope you enjoy it and forgive my slopiness and inexperience. Please tell me what you think. This first scenario might seem boring, but if there's interest I'll probably do a whole series. A lot of people make one-man infantry scenarios, but what about one-helo scenarios? I might also make a PBEM 1 on 1 game, or give you a helicopter team to command.

Re: Original new scenario- take a look!
I've spent alot of time trying to create helo & helo v helo scenarios, so I will look at this with interest.
Since helos are seen as flying APCs they attract sh#t from more directions than anything. Also remember that 'trivial' damage can force you to retreat off-map in an otherwise working chopper...
Apaches are the best to use as the combination of fire-control and vision gives the most lethal effect.
Don't be in a hurry to move though, the tests I've run show that lurk, kill and run is the best tactic

Helos are extremely interesting to make one-unit scenarios out of because you can do soo many things with them that you can't do with infantry. Kill tanks, aircraft, fly through cover, transport things, etc. Adds interesting potential for a scenario builder.

Re: Original new scenario- take a look!
Mustang,
pretty cool, actually.
Dealt with the Hinds on turn 1 but I wasn't able to stop all of the ground elements from crossing the bridge, so I got a minor defeat...
I noticed you had the HQ on the map, if you like you can change it to any type of unit (like a helicopter) and adjust the leaders various command ratings... if you only want to have one unit on the map that is.
Give us more!

Re: Original new scenario- take a look!
Thanks, Wulfir. I've had internet issues recently, and I'm not sure if I'll work on another one of these or a 2003 Iraq Thunder Run scenario (both are pretty cool ideas IMO). But if I do make another Helo War it'll probably a POW rescue or something involving troop transport.

Your scenario has given me some good ideas. One or 2 that I hope to be able to find time to make them a reality. Thanks for bring up this aspect of the game.

Re: Original new scenario- take a look!
Don't limit yourself to helos. There are plenty of really cool things you can think up for WinSPMBT, like naval battles (load a landing ship with 120mm guns), gang wars, whatever. Even without making a mod, you could build all kinds of battles. The editor is very powerful, and so is the campaign design feature. WinSPMBT is probably the best game for scenario designers on the market.
Here's another one I just finished. This is a VERY difficult one, and nobody is going to get it right on the first try. Once again, you're an Apache pilot, except this time you have to escort a UH-60 rescue copter.

Very cool scenarios, avidly waiting for more of them! The POW one was very difficult and that is how I like them!
