Glamour Today
Ok so my question is on the current "awesomeness" of glamour. I have played this game since release but I never really got into playing a Glamour nation. Lately though I have really gotten a love of Tir na n'Og and I had a question for the community.
I read the old posts about the changes to glamour mostly all because of the comments on how awesome the van are. I was curious what people think now? Lately Ive found that unless the unit with glamour is in fact a heavy calvary, its not that impressive. I still love my Tuatha Warriors but its definitely different that the Sidhe lords or the Ri. Generally is glamour on foot troops at a good level?

Re: Glamour Today
Glamour on foot troops was never /that/ much of a big deal.
The problem was that glamour made dual blessed already awesome and unerpriced cavalry that little bit more insane. It still does to be honest. The nerf hurts the foot troops more since they run into more missile fire and have lower prot/no shields generally.

Re: Glamour Today
I was feeling this too, especially for troops like Tuatha Warriors. I am really starting to feel they are overpriced. I have played about 10 games with them lately and until you get them buffed with spells or several levels of experience they are pretty vulnerable generally. Do you think that their 50 gold tag is justified? I will say though they do have the advantage of very sweet shields and with regen the tend only to die to the very lucky critical arrow hit.

Re: Glamour Today
With the Tuatha I think their cost is a rarity thing.
They certainly aren't top tier sacreds but they are usable and I can see people taking a one and half bless with them.
Are their shields actually better parry or just better prot? Because shield prot is irrelevant against missiles.

Re: Glamour Today
Oh really? The prot is high (22) but the parry is the same as the 15 prot shields that most the normal troops. And you are right, rarity is the issue. I was just curious for a second opinion. Also to the fact i rarely ever see them mentioned here (TNN that is.) I am even writing up a start of a guide for them but I want to get them off the ground in a MP game Im currently in.

Re: Glamour Today
The parry on golden shields is 5, which is one higher than a normal shield. Also they have a +2 damage, +1 attack, magical spear which is an awesome weapon. All in all, this unit is worth at LEAST 50 gold. I also believe that they're 2-bless material, just not as devastating as mounted vans or abysians... but then, they're 50 gold, they shouldn't be. But they can fight in denser formations as well, for better or worse. (Usually better) And don't ever underestimate darkvision.
Even though they're capital only, they have 2 map move and forest survival so they're quite mobile, and with Air miscellaneous items like Flying Carpet which are easily constructed by TNN, even more so. The trouble would be massing them in any quantity from only one fort.
But... this unit is worth 50 gold even without sacred status, just from equipment and stats, let alone abilities.

Re: Glamour Today
I agree they are fine as is. However, I would certainly not buy them without sacred.

Re: Glamour Today
I think Extreme magic vulnerability and some arrows. and I mean by chance of hitting through the glamour for at least one point of damage. So basically with Van you can now take their glamour with arrows, just not kill them without help something like magma bolts works well tho.
