Help!
Help! SE4 is going to bankrupt me! I'm a
self-employed lawyer. Got SE4 Last week. I'm staying up all night! I'm ignoring my clients! My wife is losing patience!
I've been playing 4X games mainly for many years. I don't know yet if SE4 will have the staying power for me that Civ did. But right now, I think SE4 is a serious contender for "all time greatest computer game." It is far and away the most interesting and intelligent space game I've ever seen.
Also (and I have the current patch and don't think I need any mods yet, thanks very much) I think the AI is a lot stronger than some people are saying here. I'm a crafty wargamer, and the SE4 AI is consistently keeping me on my toes. Naturally I play at high difficulty levels. In particular, I think this AI is incredibly good at designing new fleets to constantly one-up whatever current uber-fleet I'm trying to field. Unlike just about every other 4X game I've ever seen, the fact that I'm consistently way ahead on research and resources does NOT mean I consistently can win a battle, even when I've put a lot of thought into preparing for it. THAT makes for incredible game play.
Gosh, and I haven't even tried out the Advanced Traits yet!
