A couple of other things you can try if using the default components doesn't work:
--Disable Active Desktop, if it's on. Mine gave SEIV fits until I discovered it had been enabled (probably by my son).
--Uninstall and reinstall SEIV. Just be sure to move any modified files you want to keep out of the SEIV folder BEFORE you uninstall! (Yep, I learned that one the hard way.)
