Does anyone know how the lucky trait works?

Ok then, so we have this lucky trait that halves the chances for bad events happening to the poor unfortunate sucker that gets caught in the path of meteor or super nova.

The big questions is: does the lucky trait halve the chance for mods with good events or does it double your luck with extra goodness? Inquiring minds want to know?
