Re: Access Violation by Starfuy.exe
Hi, for all those having problems running the demo, I am a beta tester, and I think I can help you find or fix the problems, or get bigger guns on the issue.
First off, update all your drivers, Sound/video being most important. WindowsUpdate is a good site to do this at, but if your hardware vendor does not have WHQL drivers, you will have to go hunting. There are a lot of sound card and video card companies out there, if you need help finding the driver you need, just ask. Also, getting your OS patched up probably will not hurt.
If this does not solve your problem, please submit your computer info (processor, RAM, OS, and other info) here or to Aaron, and give the specific error message.

Re: Access Violation by Starfuy.exe
Narf! hehehe. Ty for the welcome!
So far the demo is pretty cool. I hope they tweak the ship movements though somehow. It just doesnt feel like a destroyer flying around. *shrugs*. After looking at the files, i can see how Mod friendly this game will be, just like space empires. Replayability is waay up on the scales
have fun, im crashin..me eyelids are reminding me, i cant stay awake 24/7 ..doh!

Ty = Thank you
I have had only one crash, now works fine
Sometimes I get graphic glitches (ie wierd stuff apeearing and sometimes planets/starbases not seeable) which I just restart the game and they are ok The invisible object problem was one that I encountered on my machine as well, but one he thought he had fixed. I am currently putting the latest beta Version through its paces and have not encountered this, and my understanding was that it was fixed in the release Version of the demo. Since you are encountering the issue, I would suggest that if you see (don't see?) the problem again, take a screen shot (print screen, then paste to Paint), and save the game. Then send the save, the screen shot and a description of your computer to Malfador. Maybe your system is revealing some portion of the bug that still remains.

I started this post and interestingly I have an AMD 1200 with a Geforce 4 TI4200 running 45.33 and also XP.
I noticed the other person was running the same driver. Maybe some type of video error?

Re: Access Violation by Starfuy.exe
Oh yeah, almost forgot. Get the latest DirectX (9.0b). This could help.

Re: Access Violation by Starfuy.exe
Have the latest DirectX. Have Detonator Drivers 44.03 (the latest ones have some problems with some of my other games). My sound card drivers are up to date.
My Video Card is a GeForce4 Ti 4600
My Sound Card is a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz
My Processor is a 1.1 Ghz Athlon T-Bird
I have 512 MB of RAM
My Operating System is Windows 98 SE
My error occurs after attempting to hit "start" to launch the game.
First error message:
Exception EInvalidOp in module STARFURY.EXE at 00084EEA.
Invalid floating point operation.
Second error message:
Access violation at address 0040561C in module 'STARFURY.EXE'. Read of address 7000B124.
I've downloaded the demo from multiple sources, and this happens every time.

Re: Access Violation by Starfuy.exe
Ehh, its kinda silly. I have all the updates to XP home, direct x 9 etc...it still gives me the memory crash. Yet, if I remove all the entrys in the regristry, boom..it works fine..at least until a reboot.
Oh well, its still a decent look at the engine. Seems like this will be very flexible. I still havnt found any remote mining drones or anything to do with mining yet. Although im not sure its necessary.
I wonder, if they will allow us to import a universe from space empires V. either way, it seems this program will do what other software companys said would happen but threw in multi textured objects to cover up the bad gameplay lol. *eg eve Online* Bah, thats a waste of money.
