Default Install Question

I ordered the full version a couple of days ago. Whats the best way to proceed with the CD install? Should I delete the free version and then install the CD Version? Install the CD Version on top of the free version and then reapply the patches? Any help would be most welcome.

Hi VDS

Try this;

Rename your existing folder "Old SPMBT* or similar.

Then allow the CD to do it's normal installation to C:\Program Files\Shrapnel Games\The Camo Workshop\WinSPMBT

Then apply the patches in order...2.0, then 2.5,then the latest one, 3.0

The if you have any scenarios, campaigns, maps, PBEM files etc, you can just copy them from the "OLD" folder to the new one.

This way the OLD folder acts as a back up for all the various files in case there are any problems and this way also allows the installer apps to do their thing and install the CD version to the normal place on the C drive without you having to do anything special during the installation process.

Be aware, if you are playing PBEM using the 2.5 version and are using the higher security setting (ie. not basic security) then there will be problems playing it with the new installation. My suggestion above will also cause problems as the file path has changed and the security will pick that up.

Hopefully that helps some.

Cheers

Thanx for the quick response. Sounds like a good plan, I'll give that a try.
