Need Help
I'm relativaly new to dominions (benn playing for about 2 months now), and I decided that I should try making a new nation. Since all I can draw are stickmen I made a nation of stickmen.
It works (well...sort of works), I only have 2 problems but they're big(ish).
1- The age age of my fire mage and element mage is messed up
(I put maxage 50, startage 40 and it comes out in the game as startage 44 maxage 44, so they're already old)
2- Nobody has their wepons! They all have "fist" and thats it.
If you know how to fix these problems you will be greatly apriciated. I have it attached so you can see the text.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Need Help
1) Every pick of Fire magic automatically reduces maxage by 2 (for creatures of human age-range). They burn out faster or something... The startage might be automatically generated, or get a few years into it automatically from magic or something. Try setting it to lower, or using #older -4 to make them start younger.
2) Try adding the 'a' to the 'weapon'.

Re: Need Help
For the final version of the mod, it'd be nice if you moved the images to a subfolder. That way the \mods\ folder would stay clean and easily manageable. Here is a line from Zepath's Teutanion mod as an example:
#icon "./teutanion/mod_banner.tga"

Re: Need Help
I don't know how to make a subfolder (first time using zip for any reason) I'm clueless.
Unless you mean a zip in a zip. Then...

Re: Need Help
Well, it goes like this:
You have the files:
mod.dm
pic1.tga
pic2.tga
pic3.tga
pic4.tga
These are in 'mods' folder, that is a subfolder of 'Dominions 3'. This means that when you go to 'Dominions 3', you see a folder called 'mods' in there. Now, create a new folder in 'mods'. Call this 'stickmen'. Move the pictures in to the 'stickmen' folder.
Another way to put it:
pictures start here:
\Dominions 3\mods
pictures go here:
\Dominions 3\mods\stickmen
After you have done this, select 'stickmen' and 'mod.dm' and make a zip out of those two.

Re: Need Help
Did that, but is there supposed to be a folder in the zip file? Anyway here it is.

Re: Need Help
Well, it's closer but not right. I'll attach a working, correct zip file here (and it will have a folder). If you extract its contents to \mods folder, the mod will work straight away.
The mod itself is hilarious idea, but there are some balance problems. Normal units cost about 10 gold, militia may cost less. A giant (check out Jotunheim, Niefelheim in EA) may cost 30 gp. An elite human-equivalent may cost 15 gp (check out Emerald Guard of MA Pythium). Also check out various weapons. Give each Stick unit not only their own weapon, but an equivalent Dominions weapon as well.
Falchion, Shortsword, Broadsword, Quarterstaff, Magic Staff, Axe, Battleaxe (two-handed axe), Dagger, Longbow (or Poison Bow, which is a Composite Bow). Armors are better, but not perfect. Resource costs seem to all be fine.
The balance is off, but the mod itself is hilarious, and surprisingly, works very well. It has some VERY good ideas!

Re: Need Help
This mod is very fun, the troops are a bit overpriced(the amount they are over priced by going up as their quality does) and the mages are underpriced, i would probably put the basic mages up to around 280gp, the element mages up to 600gp+(they have 4 lvl 3 paths which all have good spells, decent stats so they are thuggable(hp is a problem but with buffs they should be ok even without equipment) and add a cheaper mage with 1 in each elemental path, 10% chance to improve each path by 1.
Also they have a starting gem income that is very high.
