Music for Games
For another project that I was doing (creating online presence for a band) I was looking for some examples of how to do things right, and for free. Anyway, I was cruising the band CDs at CafePress and suddenly realized that if I were looking for some background music for a game then this would be a great resource.
You can listen to sound clips from the CDs. There was some great stuff there for games. Not particularly something I would listen to for enjoyment but lots of midi and electronica stuff that was definetly in clear categories of horror, or metal clashing armies, or walking thru the woods.
You might have to hunt for each mood seperately since it was usually just one of those moods for every song on the disc. But they were all young trying to break-thru artists that might be thrilled to get $20 for an offer to use it in a game. Or even be thrilled to do it for a line in the credits just to be able to add to their MySpace page that they are in a game.
It would also add to the advertising of the game itself. Their bragging in blogs would boost the search engine rating of the game title.
