Vista vs SE4
Anyone else having the game hang while loading? I've been fighting it for a while now, but no luck tricking it into running on Vista.
Funny thing is that SE1,2, and 3 all run fine for me on vista.

Re: Vista vs SE4
Its best to install it outside of Program Files.

Hrm. The game only hangs when I install the SE4 to Deluxe patch.

Re: Vista vs SE4
The Deluxe patch changed the music from CD tracks to .mp3 files. Could it be a sound issue?
Does patching Deluxe from v1.93 to v1.94 or v1.95 help?

Re: Vista vs SE4
Right now I see a few options
1.) Find my SE4 Gold CD again and install from that (yes, I still have and use my SE4 standard) and then upgrade to deluxe
2.) Maybe I should eject the SE4 Cd before running the game. Perhaps a bug where it tries to read the music still?
3.) Stab vista in its cold black heart
4.) Investigate why SE4/D needs firewall access
I should also note the game might not load outright or load and show the pre-game menu then hang

Re: Vista vs SE4
Another clue, track 8 produces an access denied error

Re: Vista vs SE4
Turn off the music in Settings.txt?
"4.) Investigate why SE4/D needs firewall access"
SE4's TCP/IP engine opens network sockets when the game loads, not even waiting for one to start a TCP/IP game.

Re: Vista vs SE4
There it was, under my nose. "Allow CD Music : True"
Set to false, it works perfectly.
On a side note, after I eliminated track 8 from the settings filed and tried it, the game loaded and I started a quick game which loaded then froze up. My home system: Oornot
Anyhoo, Thanks.
