The last status update cited Vista compatibility as being a major hurdle. I don't know the specific issue they were talking about, but that does sound a bit confusing to me. There are tons of games out there running and running fine on Vista from many different genres, so this thing of getting the game to work on Vista can't be rocket science and it can't be something which hasn't been done already. Also Win7 is coming out very soon...
I think we have to guess, in the absence of other clarification, that there are other issues holding the game up at this point.
