The "
EW Block" was newly added in the last patch.
Don through the years on my submissions has had to, and I'll be nice and say, "
unconfuse" me on the issue concerning the difference between Active and Passive armor protection systems concerning armor.
I would like to think he did this for my benefit
, however I've seen that "
I'm not the only Bear in the woods" when it came to this topic.
So from the game guide as updated for
2020...
"For AA vehicles and units, and planes defending against them,
the ratio between firer and target plane EW is very important. If the target electronic defences 'win' then the firer hit chance will be reduced.
Active or Passive anti missile Systems
This field is used for anti missile countermeasures in modern non-AA vehicles as well, some may have special smoke dischargers and/or IR countermeasures giving
PASSIVE PROTECTION (collectively termed
VIRSS--Visual and InfraRed Screening Smoke in the game ) designed to passively defeat anti-tank missiles by jamming their guidance systems , and some vehicles may have an
ACTIVE anti missile system which can shoot down incoming missiles (collectively termed
CIWS...Close-In Weapon System in the game and includes Arena, Drozd, Zaslon or Trophy type systems). Both systems give the option of one or two "shot's" of countermeasures so both types do not have unlimited use during a game."
