Seen it for WebRoot as well. Ignored it and had no issues.

I just use the Windows Defender these days, it comes included with the Pro version of Windows and does a good enough job IMHO.

I used to use one but it started getting bloated and nagging. Avast? - been 3 or 4 years now so not too clear on whatever it was.

I use McAfee. No problem with getting the installer to run, but I got a warning that the programs
couldn't be downloaded securely. Just ignored it, no problems.

I got a warning and it says

"Cannot create the following file:
WinSPWW2\Game Notes\Images\Slovene Home Guard 1941?945.$$A"

Then the installer closes. What happened?

I have NO IDEA. It's a simple 2k BMP used in the game notes

Given this has not been mentioned before the problem is at your end. Suggest try again with the patch installer you have and if it happens again assume that copy is somehow corrupted, delete it and DL another version from Shrapnel
