FYI everyone, Jimbo is also admin in this game. Best to send PMs to both admins to achieve the best result.

Sorry to be a bother, but I can't open the link to the map (site is blocked, I think?, Great Firewall of China and all...). Could someone please post it on the forum as a .zip file so I can download it directly from here?

Re: Power Beyond Comprehension aka "My power is still raising!" newbie game - Open
I think with this game, now that we have started if at all possible it should be a case of FIPO (F**** It Push On), just to try and get some momentum back. So I'll look for a sub for Caelum. If we can't find one, would people rather turn non-starters AI, or do a restart?
I figure that this map is good for as few as 12. Main things to consider are:
* If you have any water nations, you want at least two (or maybe to set part of the ocean to be "dead seas", e.g. no value, just to equalise opportunities)
* There are a few land bridges around, so if you end up for example on that crescent shaped island chain to the west of the map, you still have a way to walk to the mainland (and the mainland has a way to walk to you, too .....).
BBG: Will upload the map file and attach to this thread shortly, when I am back home (rather than using a 3g mobile connection, which is a bit flakey).

I would prefer a reset to having AIs. AIs go down way to fast to a human player, and give a big advantage to whomever starts next to them.

Aye, it's turn one. A restart won't hurt anyone.

Seconded. Definitely don't want to start with AI.

Here is the map as an attachment.
Noted about AIs, we'll do a restart if needed instead.

If you don't have an AI, then it's a big advantage to whoever starts with the biggest field of eatable indies.
AI is slightly harder to kill than indies, plus a restart would be annoying and kill some people's interest which could lead to snowball effect.

AIs are tougher than indies, but they still dies quickly, and the result is that one player gets an enemy capital and all the advantages that entails (+300-500 gold/turn and 6 gems/turn, and a free fort) very early on. It happened to me last game- as Gath, I ate an AI'd LA Ulm in 6 turns, and those extra bonuses kept me in play waaaayyyy later than I should have been given the number of stupid mistakes I made.
But even if you were right that it would be a disadvantage to start next to one, the issue would still be one of unfairness, and that issue is solved by not having AIs at all. So I really think a reset is best if people dont get their turns in.
