Hehe. I'm possibly looking for a new game too, since my Pandemonium2 game isn't going too well. And this time we'll exclude Boron, being the expert player that he is. No offence, Boron.
And I want a bigger map too!
|
I wouldn't worry too much about Boron's expertise - the newbie's answer to the experienced player is diplomacy (i.e. just gang up on him! ).
I would love to play a 17 player game on Orania, although I think there's little hope of getting a noob game of that size going. One thing to watch out for though, the vetarans warned me before starting this game that games on big maps often bog down into massive MM, which is not necessarily the best way for a new player to learn/enjoy MP play in Dom2.

we start probably soon a new game too since our newbiegame 2 from aku seems to go to an end too
so perhaps you could participate there too thufir
i guess 1-2 additional players don't hurt but make things even nicer there too
i personally like karan quite a lot for 10-12 players at which we should aim .
if i am not excluded in your new game i claim SG ermor for that one
oh and i would like to play this with patch 2.13 cause i like the burning pearl nerf

That sounds good!

Really?? Maybe it's just my experience, but I think Karan maxes out at 8. In my first MP game, I really got really got screwed big time with my starting position in Karan with 10 players. If you want to have a crowded map, I think Inland is a better choice, mainly since it's dual wraparound, but also because it's relatively open.

Well, I'm hoping not to be the one to start up this new game. For a newbie, I've started plenty of games already If we're talking about a replacement for Aku's newbie game, perhaps Aku could be prevailed upon to start this hypothetical game we are discussing?

oh karan has "only" 162 provinces so you are right i always thought it has 220 or like this .
i enjoy my 2 karangames so far though both were with i think 10 players but in both i were quite lucky with placement .
i personally just enjoy nonwraparound maps a little bit more than wraparoundmaps i think
for 15+ players the new smaller faerun would be an alternative too
a cradle vaariation could be good too , 220 provinces about .
hm there is really a small lack in maps with 200-250 provinces for 10-14 player games

Silly Boron....
You know where I'm at! And today we're hosting the 'Middle School Volleyball Competition'. Once I'm home, I'll take my turn. It's tough managing TWO provinces! But with ambition and drive....some turn soon I'll have THREE provinces.

Turn 10 is up.
And I enjoyed the "Battle of the Danes" charts so much I'm going to do one here.

That Battle of the Danes thread was excellent - the annotated screen grabs of battles were particularly entertaining.
As for our game, thank you Deccan for pointing out the obvious If you all don't get off your duffs pretty soon, the Moloch will rule the world! Actually, the key to my expansion is not the fact that I've lost the imps, but rather that luck-draining ability that Graeme added in his mod (did I forget to mention that before we started?). This of course explains the absolutely horrid luck experienced by Boron and Deccan with their early lab explosions.
But anyhow - what's going on in this game - I've never seen such a slow expansion! I understand two players lost their labs, but even so, I'd guess that should cost no more than one turn in expansion rate. Boron, you've probably seen more MP than I have, so correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that one of the things that veterans are able to do consistently is to put together an indy-crushing army from anywhere from turn 3-4, or maybe turn 5 at the latest. Then, if they've got an SC pretender, they can occasionaly get 2 provinces per turn.

uhm if it happens on turn 3 and you have to save your money for the damn lab it declares the slow expansion rate .
IF your sc pretender searches the province he gets 1 province per 2 turns .
i took a very experimental pretenderdesign so i have little money for an expansion army . if i hadn't had my labblow i had now 1 province more but it doesn't matter really since i just didn't plan to even grab a province with troops i will though hopefully make up for it later by a keymagic
and taking away provinces from a neighbor has some appeal too
iirc we have indies 9 there expansion without sc is not sooo easy . you are doing great though with your abysia
oh btw i found out that protection 15 is not enough against knights lance attacks
