Fallout Re: SP and SPAA Developments

I believe of the systems from the following ref. only the SA-12 Gladiator S-300V 9K81 air defense missile system would amount to a new addition to the Ukraine OOB. The tracked launchers were built in Ukraine at the "home" of Soviet T-72 design & production. These are likely to be coming from Poland and possibly also the Baltic States. I would expect these to be either the S-300V3 or S-300V4 versions. https://www.armyrecognition.com/russ...res_video.html

The one "I'm on the fence about" is the SA-14 Gremin 9K34 Strela-3 (What version?) MANPADS Man-portable air defense missile system.
https://www.armyrecognition.com/russ...sile_data.html

The full article...
https://www.armyrecognition.com/defe...o_ukraine.html

The "No Fly Zone" and fighters are a dead issue here. However the conversation is shifting towards Med Rng. SAMs, I can see this on the horizon. We've seeded Poland and the Baltic states with our PATRIOTs and those countries have plenty of Soviet/Russian era Med and Long Rng. SAM systems available for use by the Ukrainians w/o the training down time.

Pat

Fallout Re: SP and SPAA Developments

Weapons in this thread in support of the Ukraine is starting to move more quickly in the last 2 weeks.

So, here's what's been sent thus far (The only thing new might be that the Ukraine is operating the SA-8 Gecko with the more advanced... "The 9M33M3 missile greatly enhances the altitude engagement envelope to 10 – 12,000 m, and as such are also able to fly further (about 15 km/9 miles) but the system is not able to engage targets at longer ranges, due to other factors such as the radar tracking of the missiles." This quote taken from the last ref. on weapon performance. And will be soon operating the UK Starstreak MANPAD.

Hopefully in timeline order (It is now) as posted by the ref.

New Weapon system Porn

https://youtu.be/10g3PtrhN1Y

That does pretty much what the switchblades added to three of the OOB's will do

( and pretty much ( sort of.....) what the Israelis have been able to do for 40 years )

Fallout Re: SP and SPAA Developments

Alright S-300 systems the Ukraine has or will have by tomorrow.

Ukraine has operated the S-300PMU which is a 2nd GEN improved model equivalent to the SOVIET/Russian S-300PS/SA-10B and made available in 1989.
Russia and the Ukraine are the only operators of this system.

Slovakia (Not Slovenia as I earlier posted.) operate the more advanced S-300PMU-1 the big difference here is in the radar tracking system. From Ref. 2 ...
"The SA-10D, later redesignated SA-20 Gargoyle, was subjected to what Russian sources describe as a deep modernization with design changes to most key components of the system. The aim was to improve its basic capabilities as a SAM, extend radar and engagement footprints, increase the level of automation in the system, and introduce an anti-ballistic missile capability against ballistic missiles with re-entry speeds of up to 2.8 km/sec. It is intended to engage combat aircraft at all altitudes, cruise missiles and tactical ballistic missiles, making it an equivalent to the PAC-1 and PAC-2 Patriot variants."

Operators of both systems from both refs:
The S-300PMU is in service with Russia and Ukraine. The improved S-300PMU-1 has been exported to China, Greece, Slovakia and Vietnam.

(Missile weapons chart sorted by system near bottom above S-300P/S-400 tech data section.
ALSO NOTE SLOVAKIAN SYSTEM above Almaz S-300PMU / SA-10B/C Grumble B/C launcher system section.

So, Ukraine now operates both systems.

Regards,
Pat

I feel you REALLY understand why I shifted back to "my" thread starters. I'm just trying really hard to only post what I know they have from as many reliable sources my brain can handle at this time.

I remember very early on someone posted that the Ukraine got the DANA M2 8x8 SPAA system. Well, that's partially true for test and evaluation just before the war if they received if at all maybe handful of them. I can confirm DENMARK got them last year I believe and it ain't the old DANA. If interested let me know, I'll post it in the appropriate thread if taken for action.

War is Hell and as I came across a post that thrilled me to death, like all wars they come at a cost. It appears the fallout from this one has occurred.

Just an add on about S-300PMU-1 I'm a deep miner.
https://worldnewsera.com/automobile/...is-on-its-way/
Para 13 discusses the overall artillery situation about foreign artillery options for the Ukraine. Not in this but my files the Polish KRAB K-9 was also considered in 2020. Good info throughout concerning German situation and POTENTIAL sales about two paras above this one I think was.

Pat

I'm not buying it.

The timeline just doesn't quite fit from when they got into country to have gotten all the way to Eastern Ukraine in, like a day, I'm not so sure about that being reality.

I can confirm now that the Ukraine is now operating these and that the Czech Republic OOB needs it added START JAN 2018.
http://www.military-today.com/artillery/dana.htm
http://www.military-today.com/artillery/dana_m1_cz.htm
https://www.armyrecognition.com/defe...o_ukraine.html

WITH MY HEAD "BOBBING"
, I somehow managed to do separate posts and the one with the least amount of info was this one.

Ukraine was conducting an evaluation of the DANA M1 CZ for a few months before the war. The DANA M1 CZ went service on JAN 2018 with the Czech Republic.

The Ukrainians put the DANA M1 CZ into service this month along with additional units also shipped in from the Czech Republic. Ukraine START APR 2022.

I understand this might get in this cycle; I'll get it done on my end.

Regards,
Pat

Simply a most interesting article and I have to admit the performance of the Ukrainian Kvitnyk laser-guided shells have exceeded my expectations and I suspect some of the Western militaries as well. Some of the videos I've seen certainly and literally made me say WHhaat!?! Anyway, a good read.
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world...16eacdf818ddc1
https://ukroboronprom.com.ua/en/product/kvitnik
https://www.forbes.com/sites/davidax...h=3327c09140fd

(Watch the video and as this article indicates at the 38s mark, you'll see the laser "sparkle" drop on target center screen.)

Pat
