Re: Where are the downloads?
Generally through DoGA, which is pretty easy to use.

You guys seem to have misinterpreted the question. He's not asking where stuff can be downloaded, he's asking what happened to all the new releases there used to be.
There hasn't been much in the way of new releases lately. What has been released tends to be announced more on spaceempires5.com and spaceempires.net more than Shrapnel these days.

thanks, Fyron, you got my point. I just like downloading stuff for SEV. I'm not looking for any particular upgrade to a mod, or anything like that. Just for something new or upgraded to play with. I've tried Spaceempires.net also, and nothing new has been on there for a couple of weeks also. Since I can only go online at the public library, it's hard for me to remember all of the sites to visit. I can't save them to favorites here. Oh well, I'll just come back here sometime next week again and cross my fingers.

Re: Where are the downloads?
1.77? Must have been a typo; the latest version is 1.71. If you know of any bugs you want fixed, email Aaron (se5 at malfador dot com; preferably with a savegame attached to reproduce the bug) and he might get around to fixing them

Re: Where are the downloads?
This game is pretty much on its way out so there isn't a huge incentive to make new things for it.

Re: Where are the downloads?
That seems to be the opposite from reality. All sorts of activity goes on over on the official boards.

Take a scrap of paper or a 3x5 card to the library with you, and write the URLs down.
I keep a pencil stub and scrap paper in my wallet, just so I can write something down if I need to.

The better SE4 shipsets were made from 3D models, though.

I'm well aware of that, but in that case, it was mostly DoGA. Plus, you didn't need to worry about how the other side of the ship looked, or if all of the polygons would become a "slideshow mode: on" button. 3D complicates matters.
'course, we all do know that 3D is better anyway. :V

Re: Where are the downloads?
I don't think it was mostly Doga. Sure AT was obsessed with it, but there were a lot of other authors besides him. I know of people that used Maya, 3dsmax, etc. Hell, even one or two crazy people used AutoCAD! Then of course there were the screen capture shipsets that certainly can't translate to SE5.
