They´re aquatic right? Can´t you just gateway them to a lab in a land province and they suffocate?

Yep, I could. I think I mentioned that somewhere above. Probably about 15 gateways would get most of them, and though I don't have labs everywhere I have temples, there's labs a couple provinces away at the most for all of them. So just need to fork out 150 pearls to kill them off.

But I thought desertion was faster. Isn't that part of the point of Utterdark? Get your enemies' income close to zero so their troops desert? If only 8 units are bailing every month, that's not much of an effect.

Are they sacred? Sacred units never desert you know, they just keep whining forever.

I believe desertion involves a morale check, so if the Gibodai have high morale they would be unlikely to desert.

Thanks! Yes, they are sacred.

How did you find out about sacred units not deserting?

I don´t remember exactly where I read it but I´m quite sure about it. Sacred unit are supposed to be fanatically loyal to your cause and never desert due to upkeep problems.

Actually I think I read it in one of those in-game "tip of the turn" hints displayed when processing turns.

I've read all those Tips a million times, don't think I've seen that one. Hmmmm.

But, in the same game with vfb, I have to say I've noticed that my Niefel Giants are loathe to desert, but I have 2 multi-heroes that can free-summon Hirdlings (or whatever), and those guys sure do not want to stick around!
